Tuesday Tips: Using the Features of MFPs to Save Resources

A few of the settings and features on Multifunction Printers are designed and implemented with your cost and resource savings in mind. Newer equipment and models are more efficient and sustainable. So, what are a few ways that you can set up your MFP to be as efficient as possible.

Automatic Double-Sided Printing

Change the settings on your printer so that you automatically print on both sides, saving you a great deal of paper. Often people press print without thinking, but now you don’t have to worry that your employees are going to waste paper. If someone has a document that needs printing single-sided, he or she can override this setting on a case-by-case basis.

Automatic Supply Ordering

Rather than buying your print supplies in bulk, you can set your machine to auto-order when supplies are running low. No need to store supplies or potentially waste supplies that you have gone unused for a long period of time.

Automatic Black and White Printing

Set your device to automatically print in black and white. Color ink/toner is costlier than black, so setting your documents to print in greyscale will save your organization money in the short and long run. Again, when you have a document that needs printing in color, employees can override the b&w setting as needed.

These are just a few ways that you can set up your MFP to be as resource and cost efficient as possible.
