When your printer stops working, it can put a holdup on the rest of the office’s productivity. Here’s what to do when several problems arise:
Start by checking for error messages or warning lights. Make sure that you are set to print to the correct printer and not a ‘virtual printer’ or another printer in the office. If there is still an issue, follow the troubleshooting directions that are provided.
If your printer isn’t already AirPrint enabled, then download HandyPrin orPrinter Pro or to print to wireless printers from Apple devices. To print from an Android device, download Google Cloud Print.
Make sure to change out ink cartridges only when your prints come out faded. Your printer may warn you to change out your ink earlier, but you likely can get more out of your cartridges before recycling.
Open up the printer (without taking anything apart) and check to see if there is anything blocking the feed. Make sure that you get all of the jammed paper out, especially if the paper ripped when you were removing it). Clean the paper feed mechanism, removing dust and debris.
